Myth #4 – Loving someone makes it ok to control their behavior.
Myth #5 – Jealousy is inevitable and impossible to overcome.
Myth #6 – Outside marriage reduces intimacy in the primary relationship.

When you talked about therapists saying when a partner has an affair, it reduces the intimacy in the primary relationship of points to an issue in the primary relationship, I agree. To me, an affair is a nonconsensual thing that happens outside of the primary relationship and that does point to a reduction of intimacy and an issue in the primary relationship. The key in the word affair is nonconsensual. If you are doing something behind your partner’s back whether in the vanilla world, or within the lifestyle, it is cheating.
